For established US business owners
AI developers may pay license fees for records from your firm.
The indicative range is $385K to $895K for a 100-person firm, 10 years in business. It is a scenario, not a valuation. Many firms are offered less, and some receive no offer once their records are reviewed. What your records hold, who owns them and what a buyer accepts decide the real number.

Questions before getting started
What owners want to know on the first call
Is this a genuine opportunity, or just a pitch?
This is a real market. Our licensing partner says it has paid firms with 60 to 100 people $350,000 to $650,000; Google's $10 million winning bid for Spirit Airlines' records appears in a federal court filing. These transactions involved other firms, not us. You'll receive your offer in writing before making any commitment, and many firms receive offers below these amounts.
What would I pay?
Nothing at any point. When a deal closes, our licensing partner pays Pewter a fee. Without a deal, no fee is due.
How are responsibilities split, and who is your client?
Pewter identifies and qualifies the opportunity, assesses your records, brings you the offer and coordinates the deal. Our licensing partner makes the offer, signs the license with you and pays you; you find out its identity before signing anything. Since the partner pays our fee, we do not serve as your lawyer or agent. We are neither a law firm nor a registered broker-dealer, and recommend that your own counsel review the agreement.
Will I give up my data?
No. The agreement licenses a de-identified copy whose terms you approve. Your original files and ownership remain unchanged.
Could my employees or clients be identified?
Before delivery, names, contact details, account numbers, credentials and payment details are removed or replaced. You may exclude regulated, privileged or third-party records. Since no method eliminates every risk, you inspect the process and a sample before signing. Our approach to records.
Who can see records before I sign?
Only with your permission. We may request a small sample to assess quality before an offer; Pewter or the licensing partner may review it. You decide what the sample contains and may decline. The full export occurs only once you sign.
Who uses the data, and what for?
Your agreement defines use by authorized AI developers for model training and evaluation. The terms you approve set out exclusivity and permitted uses. Our free owner's guide, Before You Sell Your Data, covers the terms and questions to resolve before signing.
How much time will my team need to spend?
Plan for a few hours of your time: two or three calls, plus a brief inventory of the systems you use. If an export is required, your IT person or provider handles the run, with our coordination. No one needs to produce new data or tidy anything up.
What if I can't say what data we have?
Most owners are unsure. Name the tools you've used over the years (email, shared drives, your accounting or operating system), and we'll work out what's there on the call. To estimate it yourself first, our free guide explains where to find the numbers in Google, Microsoft 365, Slack and a dozen other tools.
Why should I move now?
Labs are buying today. A single AI data company has committed $1 billion for the coming twelve months. The value is in the history you still hold: when subscriptions end or a firm closes, archives are deleted and their value disappears.
Could your firm qualify?
Signs your records may fit
- At least 20 peopleFull-time employees, either currently or at your peak.
Demand is strongest for records that document skilled work in sequence: logistics, accounting, engineering, construction, distribution, manufacturing, trades and professional services. Some regulated, privileged or third-party records may be excluded; meeting these criteria does not promise an offer.

What leaves your building in practice
Licensed records exclude your clients and staff
Before delivery, identifying details are removed or swapped for consistent placeholders, preserving the work without the people. The example below is a freight dispatch email.
Original copy, kept by you
From: Dana Whitfield <dana@harborlinefreight.com>
To: Mike Ortega, Ortega Produce
Subject: Load #48213, reefer alarm
At 3:40 AM, a temp alarm sounded near Joplin, MO. Driver Luis Paredes (417-555-0182) sent on a new route to Springfield Cold Storage. A carrier claim was filed MC 774512; inspection is holding the product.
Licensed copy, de-identified
From: [Broker_Rep_07] <[EMAIL]>
To: [Contact_112], [Shipper_31]
Subject: Load [LOAD_0291], reefer alarm
At 3:40 AM, a temp alarm sounded near [City_44]. Driver [Driver_19] ([PHONE]) sent on a new route to [Facility_08]. A carrier claim was filed [CARRIER_ID]; inspection is holding the product.
No de-identification approach eliminates all risk. Before signing, you review the process and a de-identified sample; regulated, privileged or third-party records can be left out. Learn about our records process.
